Coaching, Workshops, or Fractional
Three quick filters. If the work is yours (an individual leader making a decision), start with coaching. If the work is your team's (a rollout, a culture issue, or a skill gap across multiple people), start with a workshop. Fractional CAIO engagements are currently limited and added by referral after a coaching or workshop relationship, so that path opens up once you and Joel are already working together.
Yes for one focused conversation. If the team is the focus though, a team workshop usually does more in three hours than three coaching sessions can. Coaching is built for an individual leader. Workshops are built for groups.
That's how new fractional engagements happen. The coaching or workshop builds the context, and a fractional conversation comes out of it naturally when there's a fit. The context carries forward, so you're never starting from scratch.

AI Implementation Assessment + Workshop
A three-stage engagement at $7,500 (50% off for the first 10 companies that sign up via the launch page, bringing the price to $3,750) built around removing the biggest barriers to successful AI implementation in your company. Stage 1: every participant takes a pre-workshop assessment. Stage 2: 3-hour live workshop walking through the team's actual results. Stage 3: full PDF report delivered within 5 business days with findings, recommendations, and next steps. Two focus areas: AI Without Atrophy (broader team, skill preservation) and The Hesitation Gap (leadership team, closing AI resistance). Up to 20 participants. Delivered online.
Yes, and a lot of organizations do. The right order depends on which barrier is louder right now. If your team is resisting AI, start with The Hesitation Gap (leadership team). If your team is adopting AI fast and you're worried about skill atrophy, start with AI Without Atrophy (broader team). Each engagement is $7,500 whether run separately or as a pair. The 50% launch offer applies per engagement.
Every participant takes a short individual assessment before we meet. It surfaces where each person currently sits on AI use, where their specific hesitations are, what skills they're most worried about losing, and where the real barriers to adoption live in your team. Joel reviews all responses confidentially and uses the patterns to customize the 3-hour session around your team's actual situation. The assessment isn't optional for the engagement: it's how we make sure the workshop is solving your team's real barriers, not generic ones.
A full report delivered within 5 business days after the workshop. Includes: (1) findings from the team-wide assessment, including where the biggest barriers actually live in your specific team; (2) what was uncovered and decided during the live session; (3) recommendations tailored to your team's situation; (4) clear next steps with priorities. This is the document your leadership team uses to keep the work moving after the engagement ends.
The first 10 companies that sign up via the launch page get the engagement at $3,750 instead of $7,500. Paid in two halves: $1,875 deposit on sign-up to lock the launch slot, $1,875 balance due by workshop start date. You have 12 months from sign-up to schedule and run the workshop, so you can lock the rate now even if your team's calendar is full for the next few months. Process: fill out the launch sign-up form → Joel reviews and sends a Zoho Books invoice for the $1,875 deposit → pay the deposit to confirm your slot → set a workshop date together within 12 months → pre-workshop assessments go out → engagement runs → balance invoice issued and due by the workshop start date.

When new fractional engagements are accepted, the Advisor tier starts at $1,750/month (small businesses, 10-100 employees) and the Operator tier is $3,500/month (small to mid-sized businesses, 50-500 employees). Both have a six-month initial term. New engagements are currently limited and added by referral, usually after a coaching or workshop relationship.
Yes. Coaching sessions are $200 for nonprofits (versus $300 for businesses). For team workshops and fractional retainers, nonprofit rates are quotable on request. The coaching path is the accessible entry point for nonprofit budgets.
Custom Builds
Custom marketing-focused AI tools for small businesses and nonprofits. The most common builds are second brain systems for CEOs, content repurposing tools, competitor research tools, and SEO analysis tools. Builds typically run $2,000 to $5,000, are scoped around what you actually need, and you own everything that ships. There are no off-the-shelf packages.
Yes. Builds are scoped and priced separately. That said, most build engagements start with at least one coaching session to make sure we're building the right thing for the right workflow. Skipping that step tends to produce tools that don't get used, and neither of us wants that outcome.
Most builds run $2,000 to $5,000. The final scope depends on what you need, and everything gets defined before any work starts. You're never handed a surprise invoice. You own everything that gets built, with no ongoing subscription or vendor dependency once the project is done.

Small businesses and nonprofits, with particular depth in healthcare consulting, humanitarian organizations, and mission-driven teams. Most builds and coaching engagements center on marketing operations: content systems, competitor research, and SEO. If your organization is under 500 employees and you're trying to get AI working for your marketing or operations functions, you're in the right place.
Yes. All services are available in English and Spanish. Discovery calls, coaching sessions, fractional CAIO engagements, and build projects can all run in either language. If Spanish is easier for your team, just say so when you book.
The AI Leadership Triad is a framework Joel developed identifying the three skills every leader needs to work effectively in the AI era: Adaptability (adjusting strategy as AI capabilities evolve), Innovation (reimagining workflows and products using AI), and Creativity (the human capacity to connect ideas in ways AI cannot). The free AI Leadership Compass assessment at compass.jsalinas.org helps leaders evaluate where they stand on each dimension.
Logistics
It's 30 minutes. No pitch, no slide deck. You tell me where you are, what's actually slowing you down, and what you're hoping AI can do for your organization. I'll tell you honestly whether a coaching session, a team workshop, or a specific build is the right next step, and what that would look like. If none of them are a fit, I'll tell you that too.
Yes. All services are fully remote via Google Meet. The client base is US-focused, but geographic location doesn't matter. The main thing is that you're working in English or Spanish, and that your organization is in the small-to-mid-sized range where this kind of engagement actually makes sense.
Online via Google Meet. The 3-hour session runs live with your team in the room (virtually), with a break in the middle. Pre-workshop assessments are sent by email and the post-workshop PDF report is delivered as a downloadable file.
